Temporary Establishment of Bacteria from Indoor Plant Leaves and Soil on Human Skin

Examining the results, soil transfer dramatically increased skin alpha diversity immediately after contact (paired t-test: t15 = − 8.1, P < 0.005), and this effect persisted for at least 24 hours. While leaf transfer also caused a small increase in skin alpha diversity (Friedman test: χ2 1 = 8.1, P < 0.005), this effect was less pronounced and transient compared to soil.
